Stories From Volunteers
As a Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteer, I have the opportunity and privilege of serving my community in the event of an emergency. MRC training and credentialing have opened the way for me to assist during a disaster as a non-medical volunteer. In an emergency, non-medical support volunteers are needed, as well as nurses, physicians and other medical staff. To pitch this message to the community, the Lexington-Fayette County MRC has been recruiting members this summer at the home baseball games of the Lexington Legends. Emergency preparedness has been a topic of interest among the fans at the ball park. MRC is an organization that trains its members to be prepared and ready to put their concern into action.

Quotes from Volunteers
"As a pharmacist, I feel a responsibility to know the operations of an emergency and believe that the public has an expectation that I know these things."
"My reasons for joining the MRC are twofold. First, I feel that the human service that the MRC provides to local communities is unprecedented and unmatched. There is a lot of service to local jurisdictions, agencies, hospitals and individual citizens. Second, I have gained valuable training and been able to share some of my own expertise in the emergency management arena. This is a great networking and information sharing organization."
